Building Your Business Brand Online

Building Your Business Brand Online

You may not even know it, but you are branding your business every single moment. Branding is a tool that is used in many different ways to create a certain image for a company. The brand that you create is how your customers and potential customers will perceive your business.

Everything that has anything to do with your company will be a part of that brand, from the logo you use on your letterhead to the catchphrase you include in advertisements. When you take your business online, branding takes on a much higher level of importance. It can be easy for your company to get lost out there on the World Wide Web if you do not establish a solid brand. How can you brand your business online? Here are some steps you need to take.

On Your Website

Make use of WordPress themes so that you can create a very specific look for your website. This look should encompass everything about your company, including the following:
 • Company style (formal, modern, classic, whimsical, fun, childlike, professional, etc.)
• Company colors
• Company logos
• Company phrases, mottos, or slogans

Everything about your website should be highly recognizable. People should log on and immediately recognize your business. This is a key step in branding.

On Social Media

You may already know the importance of establishing yourself on social media sites, however; you may not realize the importance of creating your brand on your social sites as well. People need to see the name of your social media page and immediately connect it to you. Here are some ways you can make this happen:

• Use company logos for profile pictures.
• Clearly mark addresses and company contact details.
• Make sure you incorporate company style on social media pages.
• Keep company mottos and catchphrases clearly visible.

Social media is often one of the first places people will look for you these days, and you need to use that to your advantage by clearly creating your brand.

Anywhere You Comment, Post, or Write

Whether you comment on someone else’s blog, post a guest blog, or do anything anywhere in cyberspace, you always need to include your brand and make your company clearly recognizable. Include mottos and logos where you can to keep that brand no matter where you may be online.

Building your business brand is important both online and offline. Make sure you know how to build that brand on the Internet to avoid getting lost in the sea of the World Wide Web.

Malware play on Facebook

Yesterday the web world was shocked by the statement from Facebook, Facebook revealed that they had been targeted in a sophisticated attack on last month. They also assured that there was no evidence that Facebook user data was compromised. Facebook revealed this hot news yesterday in one of their blog post posted by the Facebook Security team with the heading Protecting People On Facebook.

They said that in January they had discovered that their systems had been targeted in a sophisticated attack. It occurred when a handful of employees visited a mobile developer site which was impaired. The site introduced an exploit which allowed malware to be installed on the laptops of the employees and these were fully patched, said Facebook.

And as soon as the attack was discovered, Facebook remediated all infected machines, informed law enforcement and began a serious investigation that continues still.

"We have found no evidence that Facebook user data was compromised." - Facebook.

Facebook said there is an expert investigation going on with their internal engineering team, security teams of other companies and with the law enforcement authorities.
In this instance, Facebook flagged a questionable domain in their corporate DNS logs and tracked it back to an employee laptop and when a forensic examination was made on the laptop , they found a malicious file. This paved a company wide search and found several other employee laptops attacked by this file.

Here's an extract from the Facebook blog post which says that Facebook was not the only victim of this attack.

Facebook was not alone in this attack. It is clear that others were attacked and infiltrated recently as well. As one of the first companies to discover this malware, we immediately took steps to start sharing details about the infiltration with the other companies and entities that were affected. We plan to continue collaborating on this incident through an informal working group and other means.
