Even though there are a bundle of both free and paid blogging platforms, the most ordinarily used ones are Blogger and Wordpress. In the beginning of my blogging career i was not at all familiar with Wordpress, i thought that it was a completely paid blogging platform, later only i came to know that Wordpress too offers free blogging under their top level domain.. But within that time i became much addicted to Blogger, since i feel its more simple and user friendly, just because i use it. Many of my friends suggested me to use Wordpress and later i created a Free account in Wordpress and started blogging but couldn't continue at all because i have fallen in love with blogger already. What ever it is, it my case now lets do a comparison. Which is better ? Blogger or Wordpress.
Another great advantage that bloggers offers is this it allows us to choose a custom domain at a rate of $10 per year rather from the free domain that blogger gives us , name.blogspot.com. Through this facility we can avoid the cost of hosting.
Adding of gadgets and their customization is more simple in blogger. There are a lot of free and useful gadgets available for blogger so adding of these gadgets are some times done from the site that offers this gadgets.
Monetizing with Adsense is so easy since both the Adsense and Blogger are owned by the same company Google but in Wordepress it is a little bit complicated to get better results from Adsense.
Thats all from my part. I know its not a complete article since am not well with wordpress, so do your commenting to help me to complete this article.
Easiness
For a beginner the most essential factor that a blogging platform should offer is the easiness of use, means a simple interface is required. Blogger has a simple and easy interface as it mainly aims at novice bloggers but in the case of wordpress it is somewhat difficult to use when compared to a blogger interface.Editing or Customization
One of the most important facility that every blogger check for is the ability to edit the source code of the template. Blogger allows you to edit the source code of your template, so that you can change the fonts, colors, size, etc.... but Wordpress doesn't allows it. but wordpress has got a large collection of various themes while blogger lacks in it.Another great advantage that bloggers offers is this it allows us to choose a custom domain at a rate of $10 per year rather from the free domain that blogger gives us , name.blogspot.com. Through this facility we can avoid the cost of hosting.

A happy end was got for the internet doomsday on July 9, 2012. You may be thinking why i am reporting it late, this happy end was known to me earlier but i had to face many questions regarding this DNS changer still today.
Why this much misunderstandings regarding this DNS changer among my friends ? What made them ask such foolishness or doubts ? Some of the talks i heard were these,
One of my classmate were telling to his friend that all the computers will loss their internet connection from 9th July on wards. He also told that BSNL will go down from monday and we need to find other sources to access internet. Another talk was that, a friend of mine asked me today that whether the computers are ok now and will he be able to access his Facebook ? and another instance was someone advised an individual that don't go to Google if you go your system will get attacked by DNS changer virus............
Its not their problem, the problem lays in what they have read, may be in the newspaper or in some other media's. Weren't those articles complete ? what ever it is, it's a pleasure for me to explain what is DNS changer and how it got a happy end .
lets see what is DNS changer.
DNSChanger was a DNS hijacking Trojan, which was active from 1994 till 2011. The work of an Estonian company known as Rove Digital, the malware infected computers by modifying a computer's DNS entries to point toward its own rogue name servers, which then injected its own advertising into Web pages. At its peak, DNSChanger was estimated to have infected over 4 million computers, bringing in at least US$14 million in profits to its operator from fraudulent advertising revenue.
Both Windows and Mac OS X variants of DNSChanger were circulated, the latter taking the form of a related Trojan known as Rs Plug.
DNSChanger was distributed as a drive-by download claiming to be a video codec needed to view content on a Web site, particularly appearing on rogue pornography sites. Once installed, the malware then modified the system's Domain Name System (DNS) configuration, pointing them to rogue name servers operated through affiliates of Rove Digital. These rogue name servers primarily substituted advertising on Web pages with advertising sold by Rove. Additionally, the rogue DNS server redirected links to certain Web sites to those of advertisers, such as for example, redirecting the IRS Web site to that of a tax preparation company. The effects of DNSChanger could also spread itself to other computers within a LAN by mimicking a DHCP server, pointing other computers toward the rogue DNS servers. In its indictment against Rove, the United States Department of Justice also reported that the rogue servers had blocked access to update servers for antivirus software.
On November 9, 2011, as part of "Operation Ghost Click" (a collaboration between authorities in several countries and others that was investigating it), the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced charges against six Estonian nationals and one Russian national connected to the DNSChanger Trojan, for wire fraud, computer intrusion, and conspiracy. Arrests were made by Estonian authorities, and its control and DNS servers in the U.S. were seized by the FBI.
Due to concerns by the FBI that users still infected by DNSChanger could lose internet access if the rogue DNS servers were shut down entirely, a temporary court order was obtained to allow the Internet Systems Consortium to operate replacement servers to serve DNS requests from those who had not yet removed the infection, and to collect information on those still infected in order to promptly notify them about the malware. While the court order was set to expire on March 8, 2012, an extension was granted until July 9, 2012 (referred to as "Malware Monday"), due to concerns that there were still many infected computers. F-Secure estimated on July 4, 2012 that at least 300,000 computers were still infected with the DNSChanger malware. These computers will lose most access to the internet on July 9, 2012 due to the shutdown of the interim DNS servers. However few problems were encountered around the world as most Internet users and providers have had time to work around or fix the problem.
Online tools were made available in order to test a computer for the presence of DNSChanger, and both Google and Facebook announced plans to display warnings on its respective services to warn users still infected by DNSChanger of the impending shutdown.
How the Happy End ?
See the news lines from The Times Of India, which was published on July 10, 2012.
From Ciol.com
Internet doomsday virus does no harm
WASHINGTON: The so-called internet doomsday virus with the potential to black out tens of thousands of computers worldwide appeared to pose no major problems Monday after a temporary fix expired.
Security firms reported no significant outages linked to the DNSChanger virus, as many internet service providers have either implemented a fix or contacted customers with steps to clean their computers.
DNS Changer causes minimal damage to India
Top security vendors observed that the impact of the Internet malware DNS Changer is minimal in India compared to the US and other countries
MUMBAI, INDIA: The much talked about and discussed Internet doomsday on 9 July, 2012, has finally fizzled out without much of an impact in contrast to what many security experts had expected globally.
India, like the US, was among the many countries, that were expected to be hit by the DNS Changer malware; however, according to top security and anti-virus firms, the nation with over one billion population and growing Internet users, reported a minimal damage with some unconfirmed instances.

Clickthrough rate (CTR) is a way of measuring the success of an online advertising campaign for a particular website. The clickthrough rate of an advertisement is defined as the number of clicks on an ad divided by the number of times the ad is shown (impressions), expressed as a percentage. For example, if a banner ad is delivered 100 times (100 impressions) and receives one click, then the clickthrough rate for the advertisement would be 1%.
Click-through rates for banner ads have fallen over time. When banner ads first started to appear, it was not uncommon to have rates above five percent. They have fallen since then, currently averaging closer to 0.2 or 0.3 percent. In most cases, a 2% click-through rate would be considered very successful, though the exact number is hotly debated and would vary depending on the situation. The average click-through rate of 3% in the 1990s declined to 0.1%-0.3% by 2011. Since advertisers typically pay more for a high click-through rate, getting many click-throughs with few purchases is undesirable to advertisers. Similarly, by selecting an appropriate advertising site with high affinity (e.g. a movie magazine for a movie advertisement), the same banner can achieve a substantially higher CTR. Though personalized ads, unusual formats, and more obtrusive ads typically result in higher click-through rates than standard banner ads, overly intrusive ads are often avoided by viewers.
In Brief,
A ratio showing how often people who see your ad end up clicking it. CTR can be used to gauge how well your keywords and ads are performing.
CTR is the number of clicks that your ad receives divided by the number of times your ad is shown (called impressions).
Each of your ads and keywords have their own CTRs that you can see listed in your account.
A high CTR is a good indication that users find your ads helpful and relevant. CTR also contributes to your keyword's Quality Score which can affect your costs and ad position.
You can use CTR to gauge which ads and keywords are successful for you and which need to be improved. The more your keywords and ads relate to each other and to your business, the more likely a user is to click on your ad after searching on your keyword phrase.

My last post under the category Adsense was How to Earn more from your Adsense account, but this post is the one which had to be published before it. But as usual, happy news comes late... In this post we will be determining how long it will take a young blogger to earn his first 100$ from Google Adsense. As you all know, no one really knows the right calculation as it depend individual factors. So the formula that i use here is obtained from many other blogs and eBooks .
Our ultimate aim through this post is to find out how long it will take a younger blogger to make his/her first 100$ from Google Adsense. The author of 43blogtips.com says that it took only 11 months for him to get the first payment from Adsense but Dinesh of dailyblogmoney.com says, it took 29 months for him to receive his check of 100$. So now you will have a clear idea how it depends on individual bloggers.
Like other ad publishing and advertising companies, Google Adsense income is also calculated on the basis of 2 main factors, CTR ( Click Through Rate ) and page CPM ( Cost Per Mile ). To know, what is CTR and CPM read these posts, Click Through Rate, Cost Per Mile. In this case we have nothing to do with CTR but need to care much on eCPM, so lets move. CPM means the average earnings that you get from every 1000 impressions.
Calculate your CPM
If your earnings for 5000 impressions is 8$, your CPM will be (8/5000)*1000 = $1.6
The Formula is ( Total Earnings / Impressions ) * 1000
As i said before, me or anyone cannot tell you which is the best CPM for you as it entirely depends on your blog content and traffic. Usually the top CPM other bloggers get's is between 0$ - 2$'s. To earn your living from blogging and Adsense you should have a CPM of at least 1$. Now lets calculate the page impression required to earn 100$ from a CPM of 1$.
Calculate the required Page Impression
CPM - 1$
Earnings to be got - 100$
( 1000 / 1 ) * 100 = 100000
So you need to have 100000 impressions to earn your first 100$ from the Adsense account, which is on the rate of 1$ CPM.
The next step is to calculate the amount of required visitors. So having 100000 impressions means you will have about 66,667 visitors.
(1 / 1.5 ) * 100000 = 66,667 visitors
The next step is to find out from where these visitors are ? You can get traffic from many sources like referral, social media's, search engines, direct, etc....... but the highest source must be search engines since it is the organic traffic. Here i'm taking an average of 65% organic traffic. So the amount of visitors from search engines will be 43333.
( 65 / 100 ) * 66667 = 43333
So i think you will be now able to make a rough idea about how long it will take for you to earn your first 100$ from Adsense. For me, my daily average organic visitors were ( days back ) 100 and according to these calculations it will take 10 months for me to get my first Adsense payment, lets wait and see. But remember, we are not keeping our traffic constant it will increase day by day as your blog grows up so the time to receive your further payments will be short as compared to your first payment.
Enjoy blogging............
